Remington College in Houston is donating hair clipping to help clean up the Gulf Oil Spill. 3 Campus locations are participating and are donating the hair clippings to a NON-PROFIT "Matter of Trust," this organization will use the material to make mats and booms to help contain oil spills. Students and instructors are sweeping their salon floors and saving it in bags in which all of this hair will be shipped to the organization.
You may not be aware of this but hair is know to attract oily substances. The non profit stuffs the donated hair into booms and made of mylon stockings, its an inexpensive way to collect crude oil floating on the waters surface!
15 locations in Florida, Mississippi, Alabama and Louisana will recieve these clipping and used by clean up workers. If you wonder why Remington College sounds familiar its because there are 20 locations nationwide and the headquarters in Heathrow, Florida. What a great way for the college to give back!
